Steve Whitney

Biography

Steve Whitney grew up on a farm in eastern Washington State, then moved to Seattle where he earned a BA in Biblical Studies from Seattle Pacific University. He spent 10 years in Christian education and youth ministry at Fairview Church in Seattle, and then moved his family to Reseda, CA in 1992 to be Senior Pastor at West Valley Community Church. In 2000, a family break up lead him to step out of ministry and into the financial services business. In 2002, he married his wife, Sharon, and they blended a family with four teenagers, Steve’s daughter and son, and Sharon’s two sons. Today, three of the four kids are married, and Sharon’s oldest has 3 sons, making Steve and Sharon happy grandparents.

Steve attended Real Life Church in Valencia, CA and in 2008 joined the staff there, over the years serving as Office Manager, Director of Ministry, Finance Director and Discipleship Director. At the end of 2016, Steve felt God’s hand moving him to make a change, and a text to Jeremy Vanderlinden opened the door to a discussion that led him to join the staff here at CrossCity.
